VOLUNTEERING AT CROW ISLAND

We welcome all parents to get involved in the Crow Island Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Volunteering with the PTO is a great way to feel connected with our school community and our many school traditions.

 

The Winnetka Public Schools will be using Raptor VolunteerSafe to manage volunteer applications, approvals, and background screening requirements across the District in order to ensure safe engagement of volunteers on our campuses and with our students. All those interested in volunteering for the schools in some capacity during the school year (room parents, field trips, PFL, picture day, etc), must register with VolunteerSafe before they are approved to volunteer. PTO Chair and Committee positions: 

The PTO manages and funds a variety of programs and events each year to develop, enhance and support our Crow Island community. Programs run throughout the year with ranging levels of time required. Whatever your commitment ability may be, there are so many opportunities to get involved.

CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS:

 

Classroom Volunteer sign-ups are on a first-come basis and usually happen in early September. You will be reminded about this date in the Crow Island Bulletin. In an effort to create volunteer opportunities for as many parents as possible, please kindly follow these guidelines:

  • If you have multiple children, please volunteer for only ONE child's class.
  • Please only sign up for one role - either Room Parent, Class Photographer, OR Courtyard Parent.
  • Please do not sign up to be a Room Parent for the same child for two consecutive years. 

There are three types of Classroom Volunteers. For a description on each, please see below:

 

Room Parents support teachers throughout the year, provide a liaison between the PTO and the parents from each class, plan social events for parents/moms, and attend in-classroom events. 

 

Class Photographers attend classroom events to take pictures that help create yearbook pages for each class. 

 

Courtyard Parents work with teachers to design and/or upkeep their classroom's courtyard space. Please note: Courtyard Parent duties may possibly fall outside of normal school hours depending on what works best for your child’s teacher.

PIZZA FUN LUNCH VOLUNTEERS:

Sign-up HERE to be a Pizza Fun Lunch parent volunteer! 

In order to create volunteer opportunities for as many parents as possible, please follow these guidelines:

  • Only one adult per family may sign-up for a Pizza Fun Lunch volunteer session 

  • Volunteers may only sign up for one volunteer day

  • Room parents cannot sign up for Pizza Fun Lunch volunteering

All volunteers must already be registered with VolunteerSafe before attending Pizza Fun Lunch.
